Description
A handsome antique Stewart Dawson & Co pocket watch, presented in a warm rose-gold-toned Dennison STAR gold-filled full-hunter case.
Dating to approximately the 1920s, possibly extending into the early 1930s, the watch features a classic white dial signed “Stewart Dawson & Co”, black Roman numerals, elegant hands and a subsidiary seconds dial at six o’clock.
The full-hunter case opens to reveal the dial and is beautifully finished with fine engine-turned decoration. A decorative circular cartouche adorns the front cover, while the reverse remains elegantly understated. The interior is stamped “STAR Dennison Watch Case Co Ltd” and numbered 775904.
Dennison’s STAR designation was used for its 10-year gold-filled case grade. The case has a beautiful rose-gold tone, but it should not be confused with solid rose gold.
Recently serviced and currently in working order, this distinguished pocket watch is a wonderful piece of horological and retail history.
