Fifteen years in the business

House of Treasures is a family owned business with a shop originating in William Street, Rockhampton Queensland.
We have now opened in Quay St and incorporated our shop with Riverston Tearooms.

In 2006 Jim and Maria Ellrott decided to diversify and incorporate the Cattle business with antiques and collectibles. Jim has long been interested in good quality and craftsmanship which sadly now, is mostly  found only in the old. That fascination has led to a collection of antiques, estate furniture, estate jewellery, silverware and collectibles without peer.

Our aim is to provide the people of Central Queensland with a unique range of  stock that will enhance the home and provide that personal gift for someone special.

Please browse our collection – and if you’re after something specific that you don’t see here, please don’t hesitate to ask.

history

The Bank of Queensland

House of Treasures is located within a Treasure itself. Originally The National Bank of Queensland, commenced construction in 1872 and took till 1880 to open her magnificent doors. Many people walk into our partner business, RIVERSTON TEA ROOMS, and love to wander around with stories of someone family wise working in the bank or depositing there first pay cheque in the bank.

The National Bank of Queensland ran until Rees R & Sydney Jones, one of the oldest practising law firm in Queensland established in 1864 by Rees Rutland Jones took over in 1975 till they out grew the premises in early 2000. The building stood empty approximately 6 years till J & M Ellrott sold their family property on Emu Park Rd and moved in taking residence upstairs and turning the downstairs area into tea rooms and an antique shop. Tearooms now are fitted with Chandeliers’ transporting visitors into an ambiance of a bygone era. We are a family run business hoping to offer exceptional and personalised service.
